Flavours of Home is a home-baker-led food brand offering both sweet and savoury preparations, from cakes, brownies and cookies to stuffed idlis, lasagne and other homemade favourites. The challenge was not simply to create an identity for a home-baker. It was to create one that could comfortably hold such a varied menu without making the brand feel scattered. Most food identities tend to build themselves around a particular product, cuisine or category. That approach can work when a brand has a focused offering, but for Flavours of Home, it would have meant designing around one part of the business while leaving everything else feeling like an afterthought. The identity therefore needed to communicate something broader: the feeling of food made at home, with the freedom to move between sweet and savoury, familiar and unexpected, without losing a sense of belonging.
The Design Approach
We started with the idea of home as the common thread, rather than the food itself.
Instead of building the identity around a particular dish or ingredient, the visual language was developed around the warmth, familiarity and personal nature of homemade food.
This gave us a much wider foundation to work with.
Illustration, colour, typography and supporting graphic elements were brought together to create an identity that feels warm and expressive, while still having enough structure to remain consistent across different products and applications.
The intention was to avoid making the brand feel overly polished or commercial. At the same time, it needed enough visual character to feel like a considered brand rather than simply a home-baker's label.
The result is an identity that can move from a box of brownies to a savoury preparation without having to change its personality.
The Solution
The final identity creates a flexible visual system built around the idea of food that feels familiar, personal and made with care.
Rather than assigning a different visual treatment to every category, the same core elements can be carried across the brand, allowing the individual food offerings to change while the brand remains recognisable.
Packaging and supporting applications extend the identity into the physical experience, creating a consistent relationship between the food and the brand behind it.
Most importantly, the identity gives Flavours of Home room to grow.
It doesn't ask the brand to decide whether it is a cake brand, a dessert brand or a savoury-food brand. It creates a visual home broad enough for all of it.
One identity. A whole lot of flavours.
